Happy Monday

Hey everyone!! This week was super cool!

First off, for less missionary like activities we went to Quinta de Regaleira for P-Day as a district. Oh man. That place is on the same level as Disney World. Its amazing. I'll add some pictures because secret tunnels, inverted towers, castles, mansions, crazy archeitecture, secret labratories with frankenstein monster stories, gardens, and waterfalls with enterances to said tunnels. It was incredible. 

Well enough with the amazingness of Portugal and Sintra, now for the things that were really cool! First of all, our members. Our members have confidence with us and are quite willing to work with us. Its amazing. They are wonderful. You members have no idea the difference you make. In teaching or in just giving us rides to far away places to look for random contacts and less active members. You guys are great. My hat goes off to all of you and your patience with us missionaries.

Well some of our investigator friends. We finally met with Maria Rosaria. Her husband died a month ago and she has TONS of questions about the true God and the true church. We explained the restoration to her and invited her to pray. She has some awesome potential, if we can meet up with her again. The problem is is that things are pretty inconsistant when we mark things. Sometimes we show up and she is sleeping or something so we it doesn't work out. Which is a shame to leave because we need to teach with members and she lives slightly far away. But we are so excited to teach her all the same. She is an amazing lady. She has been to church once a few months ago and she LOVED it. She said she felt amazing and welcomed like never before. Ya. She's super awesome.

We have Teresa. Her story is interesting. She works at the Disney store in Colombo (shopping center) and was contacted by Sister Tavares. Christmas time actually. Sister Tavares told her she had a present for her (Elders singing for her) and said she would pass by later. We did pass by but it was the wrong address. About a week or so ago she found the right address and called. We went there and taught the Restoration, then went with Sister Tavares and two more Elders and sang two Sundays ago. Then we invited her to baptism. And she didn't like that. She is pretty hard catholic and very active. She acted pretty cold around us when we called. We finally managed this week to pass by. She didn't look to pleased to have us there. We were planning on teaching the Plan of Salvation but that wouldn't go over very well. We talked for a bit and asked if she had read. She promptly told us that it didn't make sense like the bible does. Why is it different? We explained about how the Bible and the Book of Mormon support one another and then proceeded to explain how we can study the Book of Mormon. We showed her the Guia do Estudo das Escrituras and went over how you can look up things by topic and find scriptures in the Book of Mormon and the Bible. We read about faith and looked up Alma 32. She loved it. She was explaining to us about how the seed of faith works and how it grows to bear fruit and why we need faith to wait for the fruit and the difference between faith to see the seed grow and faith to see the seed bear fruit. Oh man. It was super cool. She said that she really needed all of that. We talked more on faith and we left as friends. It was truly a miracle to see the spirit work and the power of the Book of Mormon to soften her heart. MIRACLES. Now we are going to talk with her again on Tuesday. Should be great.

I learned a ton about revelation this morning. Basically, we receive revelation by writing what we learn. Then as we write we receive more. I saw this pattern throughout D&C 76. I would love to include all of what I learned but I don't really have time. So I have it written in Portuguese. If parents are up to the challenge of translation, go for it. If not, good luck. Also it has a story about how the lesson with our adventist friend went.

Esse semana foi boa. Estou aprendendo muito. Mesmo hoje da manha aprendi um lição valioso sobre revelação. Foi muito interessante, mas para entender, primeiro vamos falar sobre aquele Adventista. Fomos para a casa dele ontem. Ele não veio para Igreja infelizmente. Ele respondeu que ele recebeu uma resposta do dia do Sabado porque o culto la no Sabado foi o culto mais espiritual que ele ja teve e ele aprendeu muito ao respeito de como o dia do Senhor representa a dia de descanso e tal. Queriamos falar ao respeito de recebendo revelação na igreja (ontem foi fantastico) mas ele estava la com mais dois adventistas e um homen catolico menos interessado. Uau. Aquele lição foi bem interessante. Um mixtura entre ensinando e eles atacando nossas ensinamentos. Eles queriam mesmo aprender, ensinamos o plano de salvação e Junior (nosso amigo principal) testificou para os outros sobre a veracidade do Livro de Mormon. Eles estao bem interessado com muitas perguntas. Infelizmente, esses perguntas sao tao especificos que eles nao vejam a visao geral. Como aquele escritura em que Cristo fala com os fareiseus dizendo algo sobre....bem, em ingles é: "those who strain at a gnat and swallow a camel." Aqueles que ...ficam chatiado com uma mosquito e engolhem um camelo ou algo assim.

Mas ensinamos bem acho eu. Verificamos varias vezes se eles estavam la para aprender ou para ensinar e deixamos claro nossa posição. Com tudo isso, eu decedi que eu tinha que ter um conhecimento maior para o plano de salvação. Eu sinto bem por enquanto com minha conhecimento do Restauração e o Evangelho de Jesus Cristo, mas com os detalhes do Plano, eu queria ter mais conhecimento das escrituras. Hoje eu estudei D&C 76 e 2 Néfi 2. Eu mesmo estudei. E eu aprendi muito. O plano ficou tao claro para mim. É tão genio! É incrivel! Como precisavamos da queda para ter conhecimento entre bem e o mal para progredir mas isso nos deu morte. Então temos Cristo para nos redemir para que nos podemos agora ter conhecimento entre o bem e o mal E ter um vida eterna e voltar para viver com o pai se nos queremos. Assim nos podemos ter todas as partes boas e deixar todas as partes maus. Nao sei como explicar como é incrivel esse plano. 

Tambem notei que em D&C 76, eles receberam um pouco de revelação, e dai foram mandado para escrever. So depois de escrever esse revelação, eles receberam mais informaação. É como alguem dando um discurso para um outro que vai escrever. Eles não vão contar a discurso inteiro e depois pedir tal pessoa para escrever mas sim, falar um pouco, escrever um pouco. Falar um pouco, escrever um pouco. Enquanto estava formulando algumas pensamentos sobre revelação e como isso aumenta nosso conhecimento e responsabilidade, recebi revelação pessoal ao respeito de uma pergunta que eu teve anteriormente, na verdade o dia anterior. Sentia como o Senhor me dizendo o que era para escrever. E enquanto eu escrevi eu recebi mais. E assim foi até eu teve um paragrafo que explicava a resposta da minha pergunta.

Em fim. Esse experiencia foi otimo. E novo para mim. Esta ajudando me a entender mais sobre a maneira que recebemos revelação. 

Well I love you guys. Do whats right. Not whats wrong. Don't do things that look good now but over the long run won't be so good.

Story of Elder Cordon's Week, How it Went and Such

Well don't get sick because that's lame.

This week was pretty great. Started a bit slow but picked up momentum. We had more member present lessons than ever and I think thats just going to keep increasing!! To start off the week we went with Fernando, one of the most amazing recent converts ever, on an adventure for P-Day. We went to Guincho. Some amazing coast line and traveled along it until Cabo da Roca, the most western point of all of Europe. It was crazy windy and the sea was amazing. Probably one of the best P-Days yet.

Well one of the most awesome things this week was work with members. Amadora is really picking things up and getting proactive with things. We are putting a big push into cleaning up, updating, and reactivating the members list. Its a massive project but its going really well. Having a bishop is a massive blessing.

Well there once upon a time was a young adult 20 years old or so, who contacted us, asking for help to change his life. We called him, marked with him several times, but each time didn't work. We met him finally. He has had a seriously rough past but he has real intent to change. We brought him to the chapel this week where we sang a hymn or two, toured the chapel, explained the artwork, and watched the video of the Restoration. It was super spiritual. Then, the best part was Saturday. After a day of searching for names and addresses in an area we had never been before (Moinhos de Funcheira) we went to the chapel to have a lesson with him and a ward member Antonio Damião. The importance and role of members to missionaries is ENORMOUS. We need you members. Your small testimony can make all the difference. Antonio and our friend had come from similar backgrounds. Nearly everything Antonio said had a profound effect on our friend. We talked about overcoming addictions and self control and the Atonement and baptism. At one point Antonio brought us into the bathroom to give us an example of what baptism is. He had a glass filled with random gunk. Paper, bottlecaps, leaves, string, etc. He explained that this was us. He then filled the cup with water and dumped everything out and, showing the now clean empty cup, explained how baptism cleans us of our past sins. Well, our friend is working towards baptism now. Its going to be awesome.

Well, yesterday I woke up sick. Went to church, came home super sick. Layed down, then walked up a big hill to our appointment at 16h30 with Sister Tavares to teach a reference of hers. It turned out really well. We had a great lesson with her a few days previously and this lesson Elder Leung and Smith came to play the violin and sing to her. It really brought the spirit. She has a son who served a mission and she is devoutly catholic. It turned out to be really nice. I was feeling awesome on the way home but Sister Tavares commanded me to lay down once we got back to the house. Upon doing so I realized that I was feeling awful. I then slept on and off from about six in the afternoon until seven this morning. Feeling a lot better after schnazy soup and a blessing. Sickness is super lame, trust me.

The Work Shall Go On

Hey everyone!!

This week was fantastic. So I'll just dive right in. P-Day of last week we found a random thing called the Mina de Agua (Water Mine) in the middle of the city that is hidden in a magical little courtyard that can only be accessed by going down a hardly noticible street/alley. It looks like something from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. 

With that extremely important news to the side, on Wednesday we had a conference from a visiting General Authority, Elder Dyches. It was fantastic. I learned so much. I took probably three or four pages of quality notes (small plates notes not large plates notes if you know what I'm sayin'). Me and my comp sat right in the front. Elder Dyches talked a lot about planning effectively, Preach My Gospel Fundamentals and pulling knives out of peoples faces in the emergency room. Oh ya. This guy is awesome. At one point he announced that he was going to look at someone's planner, looked at me and said, "Elder Cordon, let me see your planner." My heart stopped. But I handed it to him. He looked through it, congratulated me on my planning, showed it to everyone, and handed it back. Before I could let out a sigh of relief he was grabbed my comps planner and said, "Now we are going to see if Elder Cordon is a good trainer or not." Now I was sweating bullets. But he looked it over, gave his approval and some advice to both of us, and handed it back. So ya. That happened. A new goal was made at that exact instant. My planners needed to be trophy planners from here on out. He also made very clear on my planner, "Zero is not a goal." #calltorepentance

Oh my gosh. There are so many things that happened. The division with the Zone Leader, invites to baptism, some ridiculous examples of boldness. Its awesome.

One of the miracles that happened this week was this man named Jose Silvio. He is a less active we visited and have been teaching. We taught him an awesome lesson about the Plan of Salvation and gave him a really powerful invite to church but he was hesitant if he would be well enough that morning to go. Sunday morning came around and our members list, which had his number on it, was missing. We looked everywhere! We finally left to the chapel. "Dang it Elder, he won't come to church if we don't call him and give him an incentive." I said somewhat dejectedly (oh me of little faith). Well we get there and we are greeting everyone and he shows up!! In a suit! We were super excited! Our whole district brought less active members to church. The bishops councilor came up to us to tell us that there were members who came to church today that he hadn't seen in years.

We are building up the confidence this ward has for us and there desire to do missionary work. It is amazing to see the cogs start turning and things clicking into place. When members come up to you putting the pressure on you about when are we going to do a family home evening to integrate the new convert into the ward to get to know their visiting teachers they just assigned and to help her son to earn money for the temple trip coming up.

I love Amadora, I love missionary work, and I love the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This was on my planner for last transfer (btw, transfers happened, I'm staying with Elder Ramos and Elder Taylor and Simpson are also staying, new sisters in the ward though, whitewash) and I thought you guys might like it. Its actually a quote Elder Simpson shared with me:

Also, the package was fantastic. I got so excited to see the rice krispy treat. Also the minifigs were: broken foot guy, and animal control person. OH ya. Also I like the gloves, but the buttons already broke :/

Conferences, Cascais, and Theatres!

Hey guys!

This week was neat, we had zone conference and interviews and all sorts of awesomeness. To start off was zone conference. We left fairly early to get there and it was really cool. President said some great things and the zone leaders gave a great lesson on boldness. "If we don't know how to teach, we're going to lose, and we're going to lose a lot [...] our lessons are works of art." Our lessons are works of art and they need to be worthy of being signed by the spirit.  Also the boldness thing, we need to be bold in the manner of Christ. We can't be too bold, nor not bold enough but bold in the manner of Christ. If we are too bold we will be focusing on numbers and lessons and never people. If we aren't bold enough, we will be focusing on friends and comfort. If we are bold after the manner of Christ we will be focusing on teaching people with lessons and helping them as individuals to come unto Christ.

Next up on the list, we have Cascais! This Saturday we had an activity with the zone to help out the branch in Cascais. They have probably the most amazing chapel I have ever seen. It looks out from the mountain towards the sea and is pretty much a mansion. It even has a deck pool! They don't use it anymore but its there! You walk in to see this curved staircase going upstairs with the prophets lining the walls. It was amazing. That day we had an open house inviting people to tour the chapel. The hardest thing for them though is the location. The chapel is pretty much hidden so its hard to get people there so we did contacts all day inviting people to the chapel. It was way fun. Met some Jehovahs Witnesses who gave us a hard time about family history, met a guy named Oo-Oo-Oo-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha who gave me 5 thank you's and only gave my comp 4 (he made that clear) and I placed a pass along card on a Ferrari. Oh man, tell me it wasn't awesome.

Unfortunately no one showed up for church. It was a sad but the sacrament still was wonderful as always. Then for the finale, on Sunday we were in-charge of doing the third and final hour for the relief society and the priesthood combined. We had it down in the sacrament hall. So, what did we do? We did a theatre! I was the reference, Elder Taylor was the member, and Elder Ramos and Simpson were the missionaries! We showed three situations, 1) missionaries asking for references, 2) teaching with the missionaries, and 3) welcoming investigators to church! With each of these we showed examples of what not to do and what to do that works. It was super awesome. Everyone was laughing and it also got the point across really nicely. The members were extremely involved with telling each other what they need to do to help the investigators feel welcome and what not. The ward mission leader was SO happy, as was the bishop. We now have soo many invitations to go and eat and peoples houses. We are really excited and hope this makes a big difference in our ward! We also really hope it lasts and not just something for this group of missionaries.

It was a good week, this next week is going to be crazy. We have a mission conference of sorts with Elder Dykes along with a division in another area and ward mission council! Hopefully we will be able to get some solid work in!!

Achievement: List Cleaner

Boa tarde a todos!

This week was... sic. Things are getting going. As the subject implies. We are really hitting this members list hard. We have a big map of our area and we spent some time marking the roads of every member on the list in our area to go and find them. We are currently on page 20 or so of 27. Its pretty crazy. We also have spent considerable amounts of time tracking down these people, talking to them, finding out they have been dead for ___ years or moved ___ years ago. And then we contact those that live there! Its turning out really well and things are going nicely.

When you really get to the bottom of everything, happiness in missionary life is totally dependent on the work. If you are working you are happy. Perhaps you may not be totally effective, but just keep trying and work. Its the best. Pois trabalhando estou feliz! Put your shoulder too the wheel! This was a happy week I believe. We are starting to pick up some promising momentum.

Time for some stories? Last night we had about twenty minutes left to work. We said a quick prayer asking to find someone to talk to or to perhaps teach a lesson. Well we started off walking. We got to a point and looked at our watches and said something like, 'well we should get going home'. So we start heading back and as we are almost at our apartment we see someone walking down a side road towards us. So we turn up the road to talk to him and suddenly we recognize him as this kid we've talked to a couple times before in the road! Nothing heavy. He told us before how he is athiest and not interested. Well, we started talking a bit and he asked us, okay, I don't believe in any of this but tell me what the difference between you guys and Catholics are. So suddenly we have this massive Q&A that was all over the board. Well he has a Book of Mormon and committed to reading it. Pretty cool, but also really interesting. He doesn't understand to well why God doesn't like drugs and was also curious if God would disapprove of the fact that he was incredibly racist. Ya. This is going to be super awesome. 

We also found keys this week lying in the road. We marked down some information and took them to the Police Station. We talked to the officer there who turned out to know a member of the church (the member was the police captian or whatever the head man is called) and let us buy really cheap water from their vending machine. It was a blast, and the officer was really happy to see and talk to us missionaries.

This week I ate tripas! Tripe! For those of you who don't know what that is, its intestinal walls! It was a little weird if you thought about it while you ate so you just had to think of it as squishy meat. It honestly wasn't bad. In fact I would eat it again if it was offered. The worst part was just thinking about what you were eating and what comes out later if you know what I'm saying.

Another fun fact this week. We watched the video of the Restauration several times with members and investigators! The message of the Restauration is really powerful. I think we as members sometimes forget the impact of that truth. Something I learned from the video is the importance of real intent. For those who haven't seen it (its like 20 min, just go watch it) it shows the seasons pass in the video. Throughout the passing of seasons Joseph is looking for an answer. Think about that. He wasn't just like "hmm...I wonder which of these churches is true... [next day] ...hey look! James 1:5! ... [next day] I think I'm going to go pray and ask God what is the true church". He really searched. This was a search that lasted more than just a few days, more than a few weeks, this was months. Perhaps even more than a year of searching, rationalizing, and reading the scriptures. It wasn't a passing curiosity but something that ended up occupying everything that he did. It proved both his real intent and his sincere heart. It proved his faith in Jesus Christ and prepared him to receive that answer.

I learned that the Lord has eternal guidelines set in place thru which we receive revelation, success, answers, truth, confort, etc. Many times we receive a blessing or revelation according to the fullfillment of that guideline without realizing that we were fulfilling saidd guidelines. So, in the case of Joseph Smith, we know the guideline we may follow to receive revelation as to the truthfulness of something because of the Book of Mormon in Moroni 10:3-5. Joseph didn't. He had no idea. Steps of Faith, reading the scriptures, pondering, real intent, sincere heart, asking with faith to receive were unknown to him. But that was the way through which the Lord would answer his question. Joseph had no idea that he was fulfilling those principles but because he did, he received. God does not change and therefore he will not and cannot make an exception to the established patterns that are in place. 

I also learned from Elder Simpson (in our house) that effective study only will occur with a pen in your hand. If you don't write anything down, your rememberance of what you studied, also the quality of that study will be severely stunted. I have noticed I have received a whole lot more guidance and answers than before applying that. 

One last thing. An invite. Watch the video of the Restauration and while you do, ponder two questions and write the answers down. 1) How does the example of Joseph Smith help us to be dijsciples of Jesus Christ? and 2) How can we prepare ourselves to receive and interpret revelation?

You'll learn something new.

P.S. Okay one more thing. Antonio Damião in our ward said a quote that I liked a lot. He was trying to say that the natural man is the enemy of God but slipped up and ended up saying "the natural man is the enemy of man." I found that super profound and awesome. Our natural man is the enemy of who we are, our purpose, and what we can accomplish. I thought this was super cool. Interpret it how you like.

Hey everyone!

Hey everyone! 

All sorts of fun stuff this week, first District Meeting w/ training, the worldwide missionary transmission, the search for less actives, climbing hills, forging rivers, discovering territories, conquering armies, and all those things that are included in saving the world. Its a party. 

I want to start off with the story of this family we found through the less actives list. Oh man. We were like "hey who is this family" and the member who is helping us clean out our members list (it seriously needs it, we have like 600+ members on that list) tells us that the family lives in an area thats pretty dangerous and we need to know the locals to go in there. ...Awesome. So we decided to head over there. Come to find out, we had actually crossed that area one night with this old guy who was showing us how to get to some other place. Anywho, we get there and find the mother and we set up to talk a bit more the next day (Sunday). Sunday comes and Church was awesome. We head up to their house and walk in to find a ton of people in there! We sit down to talk with everyone and at the end there was a total of maybe seventeen people all in this room listening to us. It was super cool. Many are less actives, some were little kids, some aren't members. Most are children of this widowed lady. She, and several of the others want to come back to church. Oh man. It was fantastic.

Funny story, across from the hill where this family lives is another hill where some modern art/city scaper decided to make massive letters A B C and D to put randomly on this hill sticking out like darts haphazardly thrown into a dartboard. This other lady walks past us and I stop her and ask her why the letters were on the mountain. Her response. "So that when you are talking to someone trying to explain where you are you can say, 'I'm at the place with the big A B C and D on the hill,' and they'll know exactly where you are!" Oh, of course, silly me. 

There was also a baptism this week for the daughter of a member. I don't even know what happened. A random mix of brazilians, emotion, spirit, ordinances, PSY, Minnie Mouse, and embarrassing baby stories from the pulpit. Don't forget the investigators! It was interesting :) we had a good laugh.

Well this week, I had an interesting testimony about the importance of showing patience and love with everyone. People in all times and in all places be you missionary or not, will intereact with you and many times these interactions are less than pleasant. How we handle those interactions make all the difference. I love the saying that people will hardly ever remember what you said to them but they will remember how you made them feel, and that feeling is created by the words we speak. As missionaries the when we express love and patience for those who attempt to frustrate or distract us, they can recognize our calling as representatives of Jesus Christ. That was really cool. Its hard to forget that you are a missionary but its something different for someone to tell you, you must be a true servant of God.

Jesus Christ lives. He is the Savior and Redeemer of mankind. He knows us all individually and knows how to help us. If we will turn to Him, he will lift us.

Contacting the Elect

Hello Everybody!!

This week was pretty impressive. Numerically not so much but in finding, oh ya. We found so many people this week it was awesome. We had lots of things that fell through but becasue of that we found lots through contacts.

Well, to start off there was Sunday. We had our Ward Council and then the day before we had the Bishopric Meeting. The ward leadership is really excited to get involved in the missionary work and are SO helpful. Our ward is truely amazing. They are so awesome. We have a member who was the old ward mission leader who showed us a closet filled with binders all seperated and filled to the brim with information about the ward, members, past investigators, baptisms, and all sorts of stuff. This will be fun. We also had the confirmation of Joanita and Leo this week! So great to be able to participate in that and see the progress they are making!

Well, awesome story of tracting for the week goes to our meeting with a less active. He is a semi active/less active member from Colombia. We arranged to meet up with him one night. He took us to his home and we found a couple that also lived there, husband from Cabo Verde and wife from Brazil. We invited them in to talk with us and taught the first lesson. Holy goodness. They are awesome! They understood everything perfectly. The lesson however was extremely interesting. We began to teach when suddenly our friend half interrupts us to share a scripture. I was like, "ok, cool, scriptures, those are always nice" however, it became a very slippery slope. Well, lets put it this way, we taught for probably a sum total of 15 minutes. The rest of the hour was our friend telling this couple that the need to "enjoy the opportunity to listen to the missionaries, they don't have much time." Or in other words, "aproveita. Aproveita! Aproveita! APROVEITA!" yA. It was a little ridiculous but they understood! They are scheduled to be baptized in two weeks!

Dear Dallin,

It is Sunday afternoon and I am home alone.  Tanner came home for the weekend but is attending the singles ward this afternoon and mom is attending Madi Violette's mission farewell.  She said you would know her.  I attended our ward this morning by myself.  Mom was attending other wards with her calling.  I taught High Priest Quorum today.  The topic was Chapter 2 of Teachings of the Living Prophets: Howard W. Hunter.  I loved the topic of Peace.  In this world of commotion and strife the question is often asked, "Where can I find shelter or peace?"  Pres. Hunter does a great job of answering this through the scriptures.  I really liked preparing for this lesson.  We truly live in a mixed up world that only associates peace with the hope of an end to armed clashes and border issues.  We as children of our Father in Heaven wish for so much more.  We need to know where we can find refuge from the world's bombardment of Satan's filth including pornography, same sex marriage, and infidelity.  We need to know where we can rest our weary souls and forget the rollercoaster stock markets, flipped government policies, and financial schemes.  It is only in and through the atonement of Christ we can find that peace.  As Christ met with his apostles at the last supper he promised them "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."  Wow, what a gift! Imagine, immediately after that sacred meeting Christ headed to the Garden to take upon himself the pains of a sick world.  What peace could he give to his beloved apostles who after his departure would take the gospel message to the gentiles, suffering persecution and painful deaths? It certainly was not a peace as the world knows it.  He even told them, "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."  He gave them the peace that only comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and obedience to his gospel.  I love you for your obedience and steadfastness.  Don't succumb to the world.  Though the world's storms rage around you remember that you can peace in your soul through your Savior.  As President Hunter stated, "Jesus was not spared grief and pain and anguish and buffeting.  No tongue can speak the unutterable burden he carried, nor have we the wisdom to understand the prophet Isaiah's description of him as "a man of sorrows." His ship was tossed most of his life, and, at least to mortal eyes, it crashed fatally on the rocky coast of Calvary.  We are asked not to look on life with mortal eyes; with spiritual vision we know something quite different was happening upon the cross." 

He continued, "Peace was on the lips and in the heart of the Savior no matter how fiercely the tempest was raging.  May it so be with us-in our hearts, in our own homes, in our nations of the world, and even in the buffetings face from time to time by the Church."

You my son have this fleeting opportunity to share this great message of peace with the wonderful people of Portugal.  Christ is the Prince of Peace.  He is the only source of true peace to the souls of man.  Work tirelessly to spread this message.  Don't let the voices in the "great and spacious building" sway you in the least!  Unfortunately sometimes the voices come from fellow missionaries or members.  Press forward with Faith in Him who is the author of this peace.

"Oh look, a title!"

Hi everyone!

This week, I don't have a ton of time, sorry, I spent most of it organizing my email. IT was really needed and now its all nice and clean and awesome. Lets see if it can stay that way!

This week was really nice, lots of learning, lots of changes. We have in our house now four elders, me and my comp Elder Ramos from Brazil and awesome! HE is super spiritual, and then we have the other companionship Elder Simpson and Elder Taylor. Elder Simpson has been in the office since I got here in the mission. He is amazing. He knows how to work and its been awesome to learn from his example.

Well, as I said not much time so, experience! We went to the house of a lady me and Elder Castro taught once, in the doorway, the restauration. We both went there and ended up teaching in the doorway again, the restauration, gospel of jesus christ with 2 Nephi 31 and Elder Ramos after reading verse repent ye repent ye, gave her the baptismal invitation. She accepted. OH YA!! It was great! So that was fun.

This P Day will be organization and cleaning. Ainda bem. We really need it.

Baptism and Tranfers and Airports and Fun

Hello everybody!

Well, this week has been filled with interesting adventures! Lets start off with some of them!

We were knocking doors when an old lady opened up. We introduced ourselves and she told us to wait a moment and shuffled off. We stood there for a bit until she came back, held out her hands and showed us the small pile of coins telling us, "its not much but here you are." We were like, "...wait, what are you...AH, NO! No we aren't here for your money!" We explained why we were there and she was like, "oh, I'm not interested in any of that" and shut the door on us. We were standing there fairly confused.

That was actually a couple of weeks ago but I told the story to Presidente Tavarez and he made me promise to send it home. Next on our list was last P-Day! We went to Belem and ate pasteis de nata and saw all sorts of monuments. It was sic! Soon after, we received the announcement that we were going to cut back P-Day to end at 4:30 from there on! I'm actually super stoked for that, I know that may sound weird but I was like, "less free time? AWESOME!"

Well, then we had the baptism!! We taught Joanita and Leo every day but once at the beginning of the week. They are awesome. When we taught all the commandments they straight up accepted. It was fantastic. Interview on Saturday then baptism on Sunday! So Sunday was nuts. Ediene was being confirmed and Joanita and Leo being baptised then a lady from Spain brought three new investigators. Well sacrament started but Joanita and Leo weren't there! We grabbed a member (blessings for that man) and went to pick them up! We found them by the park, picked them up and a recent convert we found walking to church and sped back in time for the sacrament! Answers to so many prayers. We did unfortunately miss the confirmation of Ediene but...more member integration right? The baptism was after. Elder Castro baptised! I got that proud mama bear feeling when he said all the words right. They grow up so fast *sniff*. 

Then there are transfers! Oh man. So I'll just get straight too it. I'm staying. Ya, thats not to different. But I'm now District Leader, I'm training, we have the Zone Leader in our house and he's training and its going to be awesome. I don't know my comp but the new Zone Leader Elder Simpson is awesome. He waited with me at the airport when I first got here to Portugal!

Elder Castro had plans to go to the airport at three in the morning so we slept over at the office in Benfica. We had three alarms set. None of them went off. We woke up at five. Ya. We missed his flight. It was slightly lame. So now we are still here at the office and have no idea what we are doing. Its a total party! I think he'll stay here for another day, we'll see. The airport early in the morning was a flippen awesome.

Anyways! Thats about it. You guys are awesome! Thank you guys for the letters, I promise I'll try to write back handwritten things in response to your handwritten things.
